HOW DO I PREPARE FOR AN APPOINTMENT
Because the laser needs to be absorbed directly into the hair follicle it is important not to pluck, tweeze, wax or use hair removal creams at least 4 weeks prior to your first appointment. It is also extremely important to avoid tanning (sun, solarium or self-tanning products) before and during treatment period.
IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I SHOULD DO?
We ask that you shave the area to be treated before attending your appointment, so as not to waste any of the laser energy on external hair growth
IS IT DANGEROUS?
No, laser treatment is perfectly safe. The Ellipse Laser filters any potentially harmful wavelengths to ensure the safety of the client. If the skin being treated has an active tan then the laser can cause burns to that area as it is unable to differentiate between the melanin in the skin and the melanin in the hair. CAN ALL HAIRS BE TREATED ?
Because the treatment relies on absorption of light by melanin, there needs to be sufficient melanin in the hair. This means that unfortunately light blonde, red, grey or white hairs do not respond, and the most efficient treatment is seen with dark hair. The treatment is not suitable for those who are pregnant.
WHAT DOES THE TREATMENT INVOLVE?
A thin layer of ultrasound gel is applied to the skin before treatment. The applicator is then pressed to the skin and a carefully controlled pulse of visible light is released.
